02 — The Story
Roots. Dream. Faith.
Roots
I'm Jahoska Chamorro, a Nicaraguan American professional boxer. I was born in Pleasanton, California (Yay Area!). Both of my parents are from Rivas, Nicaragua. Growing up I always had a deep love and admiration for my Nicaraguan roots — so deep that I became a Nicaraguan citizen when I got older.

The Dream
At the age of 11 I started boxing, and it's always been my dream to be a professional boxer and represent my country on the big stage.
My Mother
My mom got me into boxing and she has been a very important figure and role model in my life. She played the roles of both mom and dad, and that's something I deeply admire about her. Nicaraguan women are something else — they are so strong. I always wanted to be strong like my mother, and I do that through boxing.

Faith
Things weren't always easy for us in life, and especially in boxing. We have faced many adversities, but here we are — ready and stronger than ever. God has truly blessed us. I encourage everyone, and especially young girls, to follow your dreams. It can be anything your heart pleases. As long as you work hard and have faith, anything is possible. Like Jesus says: “Ask and you shall receive.”
